Overview Broward House, Inc. is a nonprofit social service agency serving Broward County with programs for individuals infected and affected by HIV, homelessness, incarceration, substance abuse, and mental health. This position, under the supervision of the Facilities Coordinator, performs electrical, plumbing, carpentry, A/C, door hardware and general maintenance duties in all Broward House owned properties. Love Fixing Things? We've Got a Job for That! We are seeking technicians specifically skilled in flooring and/or HVAC. Responsibilities Conduct daily/weekly tours of the premises and report or attend to maintenance needs. Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned. Complete make ready process of vacant apartments as directed by the Facilities Coordinator, including carpentry, painting, basic plumbing, drywall and basic electrical tasks. Install ceramic tile and laminate flooring. Service air conditioning units as required, including preventative and repair maintenance. Complete grounds work as directed by the Facilities Coordinator, which may include picking up trash, power washing walkways, sweeping curbs and dumpster areas, and maintaining landscaping beds and other common areas. Alert the Facilities Coordinator of any unusual occurrence or damage that has occurred or may occur. Maintain a professional, courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees. Maintain orderliness, safety and cleanliness of properties. Assure safety standards are used in compliance with all company, local, city, state, and Federal guidelines. Perform fire safety equipment checks and assist with fire drills. Perform duties as assigned during hurricanes or other emergencies. Promptly complete and submit all paperwork involved with maintenance functions. Handle special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined. Other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in the use of standard power and hand tools. Moderate to advanced carpentry skills. Moderate to advanced painting skills. Moderate to advanced plumbing skills. Basic to moderate flooring skills. Basic electrical skills. Basic math skills for measurement and computation. Ability to read and comprehend assembly directions. Basic to moderate carpentry skills. Basic to moderate painting skills. Basic to moderate plumbing skills. Basic to moderate flooring skills. Basic electrical skills. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Vocational training and/or certification preferred. Minimum two years of on-the-job work experience. Basic reading and writing skills. Ability to communicate with a diverse population. Certifications & Licenses Valid Florida Driver's License and ongoing proof of insurance required. HVAC certification highly preferred.
