The Lead Market and Business Development Manager (MBD) plays a vital role in supporting the Directors of Business Development in promoting Cytel's clinical trial biometric consulting and CRO services to mid-size pharmaceutical and biotech companies. This role presents an exciting Inside Sales opportunity for individuals eager to transition into Outside Sales in the future.

Working closely with the Directors of BD, the MBD will focus on creating new business opportunities through a strategic mix of prospecting, cold outreach, and lead generation aligned with Cytel's new business acquisition goals. The MBD will build and nurture relationships with key customer executives and decision-makers, gaining a deep understanding of their businesses to identify emerging needs and formulate suitable solutions for Cytel. Additionally, the MBD will be responsible for initiating and conducting sales of our Software solutions to accounts within a designated market segment and territory, with the potential to take on account development and maintenance in an Outside Sales capacity over time.

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of Cytel products, services, pricing, and market dynamics. Stay informed on internal developments and relevant industry trends to perform optimally in this role.

  • Identify target opportunities and clients. Develop effective prospecting and outreach strategies that align with Cytel's business initiatives to drive new opportunities into the sales pipeline.

  • Support lead generation and administrative functions (processing CDAs, MSAs, contracts, etc.) that facilitate all sales activities in the targeted territory. Maintain up-to-date electronic records, including contact information, quotes, and sales forecasts in Salesforce.com.

  • Gather market and customer insights for product development and marketing purposes. Actively participate in relevant industry conferences and events to enhance visibility and promote Cytel services.

  • Advocate for the needs of our customers within Cytel, collaborating closely with the marketing and product development teams to ensure alignment with product planning and roadmap development.

  • Coordinate Cytel personnel for business development initiatives as required.

  • Provide strategic support for growing existing business within select key accounts.

  • Act as the sole support for new business development and sales activities within select business units.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in scientific or clinical research is preferred.

  • 1-2 years of sales-related experience (lead generation, inside sales, proposals, sales operations, client success, etc.) within the biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Proven ability to manage complex situations in global companies with a keen focus on strategic planning and execution.

  • Experience thriving in a complex business environment with minimal daily oversight.

Skills Required:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills coupled with exceptional people skills and a strong understanding of organizational dynamics.

  • Self-motivated and enterprising, with the adaptability to work across different functions as needed.

  • Friendly demeanor with a strong team orientation and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, particularly those with scientific backgrounds.

  • Established connections at the director level and above in biopharmaceutical or medical device industries are a significant advantage.

  • Experience in creating opportunities for impactful meetings at senior levels within clinical development or related fields.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, enabling the identification and analysis of complex medical technology and clinical development issues to uncover business opportunities.
